What’s all this for?
Almost all buildings are individually automated. This means that new service applications, such as an energy management system, also have to be integrated individually. Each building essentially has a different language and requires someone who understands the “local dialect” to be able to do translations. This makes the integration of such applications unnecessarily complicated and costly.
What are we planning to do?
The foundation aims to investigate what a neutral data layer could look like that takes over this translation and makes every building able to be integrated with low onboarding costs. The aim is to provide a free open source software platform into which the building systems can be integrated. This platform can also be used by the systems to exchange rudimentary information with each other. This involves checking which research projects already exist or whether a new project needs to be launched.
